ABOUT BAGS OF HOPE
Giving Hope to Children in Foster Care...

Bags of Hope is our annual orphan care project where we provide Duffle bags to children in Foster Care, embroidered with their name and filled with age appropriate comfort items (i.e. Pillow Pets, journals, fleece blankets, etc...) Often times children in foster care store their personal belongings in a trash bag. It is the goal of Bags of Hope to replace these trash bags with Duffle bags.

There is a great need in Connecticut. The most current, published numbers for children in state care are:

Connecticut

- 4,225 children in Connecticut lived apart from their families in out-of-home care in 2018, compared with 4,563 children in 2012.

- 488 children were legally adopted through a public child welfare agency in CT in 2017, a decrease of 7.7% from 2016.

- 111 children in Connecticut aged out of out-of-home care—exited foster care to emancipation—in 2016.
